Ouch!

We went down south to play with family last weekend (the 9th) and were having so much fun! The plan was to play for a little bit, then go swimming, then BBQ and party like the crazy folks that we are.  Everything was going according to plan...until we were loading up the cars to go to the pool. Zeb was walking around without shoes on - as he usually does - and ran straight into the front door, which just happened to be opening at the time. Ouch! His left big toe suffered a minor scrape (life-ending according to the amount of crying that accompanied it!), but was soon bandaged and off we went. We got to the pool and both kids could hardly wait to get in. Minutes later Zeb started the crying again...because his bandage had come off. Typical of his age - he was just fine until he could see the owie.  Pretty soon he was distracted enough that he even forgot to look at his toe! Abigail, on the other hand, jumped in and stayed in for the long haul. We all had a great time at the pool.
Back at the hosting house we all got prepped for a stellar BBQ. We originally planned to only have 2 families (the others were out-of-town or already at other activities) but ended up having everyone except the 1 family out-of-town come over to join in the festivities. Good thing we always prepare way too much food and love each other's company! We were having such a fun night playing with cousins...then it was time to pack up and head home. Just then, Abigail decided to pull a kitchen chair down on herself. What is it with our kids getting hurt right as we're heading out the door?! She had an instant shiner on her left eye and we had a good story for church the next morning.

After a few minutes of hugs and we decided that she'd just cry herself to sleep as soon as we started driving...which she did. She also lulled Zeb to sleep so it ended up being a pretty peaceful drive home.

Two days later it was starting to look a little better. We didn't take pictures of Zeb's toe...since he has injuries on a pretty regular basis and he didn't ask for pictures this time. Both kids have been troopers through their ouchies and have kept smiles on their faces. We also learned a new song from all of this - thanks to Zeb's new favorite show on Disney Junior (his favorites change almost as often as...I don't know...something that changes a lot) Doc McStuffins. The show is about a little girl that is a doctor to toys. She has a "big book of boo-boos" and a special song that the patients sing once they've been "healed". It was our theme song of the week last week!
"I feel better, so much better! Thank you, Doc, for taking all the ouches away. I didn't feel so good 'til you fixed me like I knew that you would. And I feel better, so much better now!"
