To Sum It Up

Once again it is the end of the month and this is the first post...what can I say? January was a busy month for us. Lots of traveling and fun times! We started it all with a trip to Utah and Idaho to celebrate a very special occasion...a wedding! But, before we get to that...we had a few fun days in Utah to relax (and for me to recover from a long drive) and play with family.

There's something that's just so cute about little kids going around in just their boots...

Being a part of the "spoiled" population that has temperatures well above freezing during the winter months, we were thrilled to come and play in snow! I'm pretty sure Bryan had the most fun out of anyone - building ramps and slides for the sleds and encouraging the rest of us to come join him. I sure love his fun-loving attitude (it's so contagious)! **We had taken Zeb and Abigail to the snow near our home (we have a mountain complete with ski resort and sledding/tubing area about a 20 minute drive from us) the week before Christmas to have a snowball fight...but it was nothing compared to the fun at Gpa and Gma Sagers' house!

Abigail loved going down on the sleds...and eventually went down all by herself!

Zebediah was also a pro at sledding (he usually wanted to go by himself, but was nice enough to let me tag along a few times).

Pure joy! Bryan and I took advantage of the built-in babysitting to celebrate our 7-year wedding anniversary by going on a date! We went to lunch (and ran into one of Bryan's old roommates at the restaurant) then went out again later that day for some ice cream. Never too cold to eat ice cream! It was just what we needed. I sure love this man!

We were also lucky enough to be in town for the legendary New Year's party at my Uncle and Aunt's house. It's definitely a favorite family tradition to gather together, eat yummy food and play the all-important white elephant game. We were not disappointed this year with the "prizes", although a certain figurine was missing this year...so whoever has it better come next year!

Just a good picture of some loved ones that we don't get to see all that often (Phil, Mandy, Anders, great-Gpa and great-Gma Sagers).

Another celebration was gathering nearly all of the Sagers clan to share a late Christmas.

 Smiles were all around!

 More pics of the family...

After our "relaxing" days we made the drive up to Idaho Falls to be a part of a very special event...Gregg and MacKenzie got married! Zeb and Abby had spent the past 2 months or so talking about how excited they were to see Uncle Gregg and Aunt MacKenzie get married in the temple. Zeb especially would often bring up the topic (and he didn't care who he was telling) and continue on by saying that he's excited to get married in the temple too - after he meets a girl, of course. We had to let him know that Aunt Mandy and Aunt MacKenzie were already taken...but he caught on pretty quickly.
Abigail was pretty much glued to me during the wedding dinner the night before the ceremony. Good thing we were matching, right?!

There is beauty all around...
 The Scene...

 The HAPPY couple...

It was a beautiful wedding and we were so thrilled to be a part of it all! It was definitely worth freezing (literally - since the temperatures never got above 20 degrees the entire time we were there!) to be there for their special day.

After driving back to Utah, Bryan and Michael took a day to hit the slopes. Michael had extra gear and it didn't take much convincing to get them up to Sundance to enjoy the day. Luckily Bryan only came home with a slight shoulder injury (nothing a few days of rest, ice, and heat didn't cure). The day was a success!

Following our jam-packed first week of 2013, the rest of the month seems to have been almost empty. We did find ways to fill our time, however.
We've had plenty of time to play dress-up (little miss princess comes in with her "pretty skirt" on top of her pajamas more than once a week)...

 ...more dress-up...

...and more dress-up! Zeb will occasionally participate in Abby's fun, but he typically prefers to play with his toys.

Abigail is also continuing to show her "girlie" nature by loving to have to hair fixed in new and exciting ways (she just sits and watches in the mirror - after choosing which color and how many rubber bands will go in her hair) and getting her nails painted on a very regular basis.

While not playing or getting all dressed up...we love to bake! We've been trying out some new recipes and have found a few keepers (and others that needed some adjusting).
I've got two of the best helpers out there! They are always excited to help - especially when it comes to licking the beaters and the bowl!

These particular cupcakes fall under the "needs work" category...but they sure taste delicious! Hopefully someday soon we'll have some pictures of success. Ha!

We had yet another adventure involving head injuries in January. I'm not sure what it is...but once I hit a certain point in a pregnancy it's like giving the kids permission to crack their heads open! (Zeb had his first run-in with stitches when I was about 7 months pregnant with Abigail, Abigail had her first crack on the noggin when I was just about 6 months pregnant, and now Zeb again when I'm 7 months pregnant...what the?!)
Zeb's little adventure took place just as we were finishing up a fun day with Gma Downs and Maxwell. They had come up to spend to day with us and we were just leaving Burger King after a fun-filled lunch. Zeb decided that he needed to walk on the curb and tripped, landing just in the perfect spot to hit his head on the corner of a pillar. A quick trip to the pediatrician's office to see if we needed stitches and off we went to the Urgent Care for 1 stitch. Yep. 1 stitch. He was so brave and hardly even cried at all through the entire process. Again smiles all around. Good thing our kids have such tough heads! After the allotted time Zeb even pulled the stitch out on his own (he did it before waking me up on the day that I was planning to remove it). We also spent the next few days at the doctor getting all of his pre-kindergarten check-ups, shots, and blood work done. Fun times? At least it's over and done.

In between all of our drama, we've had plenty of fun days at the park, riding our bikes/scooters, playing frisbee, and just having fun. We still love going to the library every week for story time (Abigail is getting more and more excited to turn 3 so she can go in!) and playing with friends. Abigail is growing and learning so much every day - she hardly seems to act like a 2-year old, so when she does it completely throws us for a loop. Zebediah is learning to read and loves to learn new words. He is constantly impressing us with his imagination and love for learning. That pretty much sums up our month of January. The goal is to do February a little at a time...so we'll see how that works out!
