Fun and Fantastic February

Kitchen helpers!! Zeb has continued his love for creating things in the kitchen by learning how to make German Pancakes. We called Gpa Sagers one evening to get the recipe (since we couldn't find our copy and couldn't remember how simple it really is) and he gave it to us on the condition that Zeb send a picture of the final product. Ever since that day Zeb asks to make them at least once a week, eats half the pan by himself, and tries to take pictures to send to Gpa every time.
I sure love the kitchen help!

The 100th day of school finally (it actually seemed to come quickly this year) arrived! The kids look forward to it every year because they get to dress up as if they are 100 years old and do all sorts of fun activities revolving around the number 100.
Abby was most excited because I let her wear lipstick. She is the girliest girl (and we love her for it!) and is already obsessed with fashion, makeup, and all the other stuff that I just might have purposefully missed out on growing up. Our silver hair spray was out...so bring on the baby powder. Of course, Maggie had to be in on the action as well.

Zeb absolutely refused to wear long pants. I told him that 100-year old men don't wear shorts, but he wouldn't budge. He did compromise and wear his "pioneer shirt" (he first wore it to be a pioneer and the name stuck) and suspenders. Love these kids! Zeb usually opts out of any type of dress-up day at school, so any time he wants to participate at all we do whatever we can to help him out.

Oh Maggie. Sneaky, sneaky - taking hundreds of selfies on Mommy's phone is getting kind of old. At least she's so cute to look at.

Nothing but smiles come from reading the kids school work that gets brought home.
When I am 100 years old...
I will be living in Mexico
I will have no parents
I hope that I have one kid
It will be awesome if I am rich.

Valentine's Day! Zeb got to design and build his own valentines collection box this year. He decided on a robot and got to work. He had a little bit of help with the construction (those arms just didn't want to stay put!), but did everything else on his own.
 Great job kiddo!

Birthday time! We love celebrating Zebediah on Valentine's Day. It seems very appropriate since he is such a loving and kind young man.

He loved opening the gifts to find roller skates (that also turn into roller blades when he's ready for that step), pokemon cards, a super awesome BYU shirt, and more pokemon toys.

And he got super spoiled with a very large, very rich, very delicious chocolate cake with chocolate frosting.
He kept saying over and over how it was the best day ever and the best birthday ever. It's easy to make it the best day when you are so full of love. He is growing physically (he's up to my shoulders and almost fits into my shoes!), mentally (making great progress in school and loves to learn), spiritually (helps us remember to read scriptures and pray daily and is really starting to understand what we read and have faith in), and emotionally (starting to show some maturity and growing more thoughtful of those around him) every day and we just love having him be the protector for his sisters.

Remember that day when Maggie gave herself an amazing haircut? Luckily we have Aunt Tiffy to save the day! We had to wait about a month for the hair to grow out long enough, but now Maggie is rocking her pixie cut. She is so happy to tell everyone that she got a pixie cut and we are so happy with the results.
She might just be Zeb's little clone, so we have to make sure she wears her headbands and her "pretty clothes" (her words) when we go out.

We spend President's Day down in San Diego with cousins touring the Mormon Battalion museum and a little bit of Old Town San Diego.
The kids loved the presentation learning about the Mormon Battalion. They were amazed at the interactive pictures and really paid attention. We've had a few good conversations since then and they keep asking to go back.

Panning for gold was another highlight. The kids were all allowed to keep their 2 favorite pieces.
 How fun!

The littles loved the water pump. So much so that the missionaries had to come ask them to stop and conserve water. Haha?!

Learning how the bricks were made. It was fascinating to learn that the people in San Diego hadn't made bricks since the early colonizing missionaries built the missions until the battalion came through and showed them their technique.

Abigail and Margaret spent most of their time panning for gold. They just couldn't decide which pieces were best...or maybe it was just that much fun.
 Great day of family time!

Abby lost her first tooth! It came out at school, so she got to go see the school nurse and put her tooth in a tooth-shaped container. She was so excited to put her tooth under her pillow and get a visit from the tooth fairy. Well, reality kicked in and her tooth was quickly lost in her messy room. She wrote the sweetest note without any prompting.
"Sorry tooth fairy, but I lost my tooth. Please forgive me tooth fairy. Thank you tooth fairy. I love you." It only took a week for her to get her room clean enough for the tooth fairy to finally pay a visit and redeem the note for some glow sticks. Does the tooth fairy know our kids or what?!

Since our kids were out of school the entire week of President's Day, we got a special visit from Gma Sagers. Good thing the sun came out for a few days so we could enjoy time at the park. We have been having an amazing winter filled with lots of rain and cooler weather (the first real California winter we remember in the past 5 or 6 years), but it sure was fun to get out of the house and play.

Monkeys. All of the them. Constantly climbing on everything in sight. Good thing they are such loveable monkeys.

We also got to do some face painting! Gma was the best helper while Mom was busy in the kitchen doing dishes or making dinner or something along those lines.

 Pure joy!

Zeb had his Blue and Gold Banquet for cub scouts. Our pack has a tradition of holding a cake decorating contest. Zebediah chose to make a pokemon cake (surprise, surprise) and did a fantastic job! Again, Gma supervised while I took a nap (hehe! Aren't grandparents amazing!!). He chose a blue velvet cake (who knew there was such a thing?) with vanilla frosting and colorful decorations.
His cake won the award for "best theme" and was delicious.

The girls got to make their own mini cakes to have something to decorate and not miss out on all the fun.

Typical photo bomb by Maggie, but just a few of the cake designs the boys came up with. It was a fun night for the boys.

We loved having Gma come to visit and help us not only survive the week off, but really enjoy it. Can't wait to see what joys the month of March brings us.
