SAS 2019

We love our yearly summer trips to visit family! 2019 started out with a stop to the family cabin in Scofield. I absolutely love that my kids love the same things I did growing up. The weather was just right for some fishing and exploring.
Fishing poles got let behind in California, so we had to make due with what we could find at Gpa and Gma's house and the cabin. It was just as fun!

Everyone got to take turns practicing their casting. Some showed a bit more natural talent than others, but after a bit they all got the hang of it and had loads of fun.

Swinging over muddy puddles just added to the excitement. They had to figure out how to get off without landing in the puddle. Again, some attempts were more successful than others. But the smiles were definitely worth it.

We got some sunshine on our last day at the cabin, so back to the lake we went.

Putting our toes in to feel the water quickly turned into a contest of who could wade out the furthest. Lots of giggles were heard before we got chilled and decided to walk back.

Abby won the fisherman title this time around! She caught the biggest fish and was super proud. Zeb caught a few, but they were too small to keep and had to throw them back. Abigail learned a lot this trip...baiting a hook, casting, reeling the fish in, and cleaning them.

Back to Gpa and Gma's house we went (bringing the fish with us to share...man oh man were they delicious!) to have even more fun with family.

Sun protection...check.

Summer chillin' attitude...check.

Too cute...check, check.

Trampoline games with cousins are the best!

This year's service project was helping to build a fence and do some yard work/cleanup at Gpa and Gma's.

So many helping hands make the jobs go quickly.

Once the work was done we got to play, play, play!

The theme was "The Wizard of Oz". All the grandkids got to prepare by reading different versions of the story and watching the movies.

We played several games and just enjoyed being with each other. Family is so great!

Oliver stole the show when we attempted pickleball. It was handy having him run out onto the court for all those times a redo or pause was needed (on my end...racket sports really don't like me).

Strawberry Days Rodeo was a bit hit! Some were more interested in the strawberries and creme while others couldn't wait to see the animals (and the riders).

No family even would be complete without some water fun!

You know it's been a success when the kids are worn out and the big kids still have smiles!

Basically, we played, we worked, we played some more. We seriously love family and love any reason to get together. Can't wait to do it again!
