September 2019

September started out with a bang. Margaret was selected to be the student of the month! We were so thrilled to get the news and attend the morning flag ceremony to watch her receive the award.
Maggie has such a wonderful personality and loves to be kind and helpful. She loves to learn and it definitely shows. It is fun to see others recognize Maggie's efforts.

Oliver disappeared one morning. After a few minutes of looking, I found him asleep in the garage. Our guess is that he somehow opened the door to go out for who-knows-why and couldn't seem to get back in.
Isn't it amazing how littles can make the best out of any situation? He woke up when I picked him up to move to a more comfortable place and got to have some extra snuggles.

Zebediah got his school pictures done early in the year so he could have his student ID issued.
Look at that handsome young man!

Our stake has an annual race day. They have a 1 mile and 5k race. The littles and I traditionally do the 1 mile fun-run while Bryan and some of the older kids do the 5k.
We love being active, especially when we can do it as a family. We also love that the race takes place around our neighborhood with the starting/finish line at a park so we can play while waiting for the longer race to finish.

Abigail has recently shown an interest in learning to fix hair. I certainly don't mind being the practice dummy.

Some of her ideas are pretty creative, some are a bit painful, and some are just plain fun. Any way you look at it, she is showing amazing initiative and determination to learn a new skill.

It was time to replenish the rockscape in our backyard. Little rocks as ground cover only stay put for so long with children running around and exploring.

We started the project by sifting the original rocks to remove as much of the excess dirt as possible (mainly to even the ground before laying down plastic tarps to block the weeds, and also to clean the rocks...you know, spruce them up a bit).

It was a family affair getting this project done. Everyone wanted a turn shoveling, shaking the sifter, and piling the rocks.

Once the pile started growing the main job became keeping the rocks on the pile. Lots of good helpers with that job!

Then came the additional rocks. Our megavan has been a super useful vehicle for more than just transporting our family.
The only downside...we will be finding rocks in the car for the next ever and ever. Finishing a project always feels so great!

We love to match. So much so that we occasionally do it on accident.
Or maybe it's on purpose, just subconsciously?
