We celebrated Thanksgiving with the Downs clan this year. Aunt Jennifer and Uncle Jason opened their home and hosted the whole gang for a (wild and crazy) spectacular day! The family all gathered that morning (except for us...we were slow getting down there) to play soccer and other run-around sports. It is very quickly becoming a favorite family tradition! That afternoon we began to gather for snacking and mingling before the big meal. The kids all had a great time playing and the adults enjoyed visiting. Sounds perfect to me!
Abigail found her favorite toy and was terrorizing the kitchen. Yep - she figured out how to drive it on her own. Still needs work on turning, but going straight is a breeze!
Between the snacking and dinner, we had a family talent show. It was so much fun! Raegan put together a program and Kylee announced it all. Gma Downs got to watch through the ipod (Gpa Downs was at a meeting) so it was even more special.
We had singing...which sounded so beautiful!
We had jokes...which were hysterical!
Zeb wowed the crowd by singing his ABC's!
We had break-dancing to the soundtrack of Phantom of the Opera...awesome!
We even had a demonstration on how to properly apply make-up...
Outstanding!
We had several other talents...and so many fun memories! After the talent show we all chose a letter from Aunt Jen's "letter tree" (She had prepared ornaments with every letter of the alphabet - which worked out perfectly for everyone to have one letter!) and said something we were thankful for that began with our letter. What a fabulous idea! It was a bit tricky for some of the letters, but everyone found at least one thing to be thankful for and it really got everyone else thinking what they might have said for that letter. Also, at every place setting on the table was a short message/story about gratitude. Some of them were duplicates (you can't really expect us all to sit through the reading of that many stories!) so we took turns reading them aloud. Another fantastic idea to keep the spirit of the holiday alive! This Thanksgiving really was a wonderful day and we were so thankful to be able to spend it with so much of our family.
