Our ward Christmas party was a breakfast this year (it was a breakfast last year too...so I'm hoping it's a new tradition. Love it!) so we all got up and went to see who might visit this year. We walked in the doors to find Santa waiting in the foyer for us! He and Mrs. Claus were the best greeters we could have asked for.
Zeb was so excited to see Santa until it was time to get in line. He stood near the doors for probably 10 minutes before our bishop could finally convince him to walk a little closer.
This was very surprising since Zeb had been talking about Santa non-stop since the day after Thanksgiving! He even filled his own stocking a few times with toys and excitedly told me that Santa had come early. What an active imagination!
Abigail was the exact opposite of her brother. She was so thrilled to be in line to see Santa and Mrs. Claus...then it was our turn. She cried and pouted (there might have even been some shouting that went on) and wouldn't even look at them.
Finally, we got both kids calmed down and ready to have a family picture.
After we all ate our breakfast (everyone signed up to bring an egg dish, sweet breads, or other breakfast foods) we had another special guest. This one wasn't quite as nice as the Claus's...
The Grinch! He stopped by and tried to steal our Christmas...
(He was a very convincing Grinch - some of the children were very frightened. Zeb just thought it was the coolest thing ever! Good thing we've been reading that book with him for the past month.)
He even dressed up in a suit to try and trick us. Thanks to some sweet singing by our resident Who's (primary children) the Grinch realized that "Maybe Christmas doesn't come from a store. Maybe Christmas...perhaps...means a little bit more". Whew! That was a close one!
All in all it was a wonderful party and program.
