We've been very busy this month (as can be verified by the lack of posting...right?) trying to keep up with life. Bryan had his hard cast removed and now wears a walking boot. He started out with several inserts (wedges) in the heel of the boot and was instructed to remove one insert (wedge) every 3-4 days. This gradual movement and stretching of his tendon will prepare him for physical therapy. Someday I'll get a picture of him posted...someday. Since he is no longer in a cast, he has much more mobility and is, therefore, more able to play with us. Now the only thing lacking is time. Considering his work schedule, we are definitely taking advantage of any time on the weekends that we have to spend with him!
In the meantime we are having a blast getting together with friends and family to play! The kids and I recently ventured down south to San Diego to play with Kate, Ben, and Kimball (and their mommies). We all met at Kimballs house and had a great time making his room look as if a tornado had struck! The kids were even so nice as to help clean up - translated as not getting any new toys out as the mommies cleaned - when it was getting close to nap time.
When it was time to go we all went outside and played on the community toys in the complex in a last effort to extend the playdate.
We've done lots of playing at home too. Every Saturday morning in the month of January we went to help clean our church building. Bryan's calling includes the responsibility of making sure the building is cleaned every Saturday of the month when it is our ward's turn. Each time we finished cleaning, Zeb was distraught that his playtime with whatever other kids came was over. Instead of having a sad little guy for the rest of the morning, we decided to just invite the kids to come home with us and continue the playtime. What big smiles!! We had so much fun with so many friends this month and hope to keep the playdates coming!
More playtime was had at our library with Zeb's storytime sessions. We go every week and are there much longer than the 25-minute session! Our children's section of the library is incredible and has so many learning toys to keep the kids entertained for hours. Zeb is also starting to help pick out which books we check out and bring home every week. What a big boy!
We've also spent a few nights playing with our family down south - including a family birthday dinner for the month, game night at Trevor and Melanie's, playdate with the cousins, and more! So much playtime...
Last, but certainly not least, we've had lots of fun playing in the tub. Bryan came up with the idea of having Zeb wear swim goggles in the tub to try and get him to wear them in the pool this summer. (We tried putting them on at the pool last year and he refused every single time!)
Of course, Abigail couldn't be left out of the fun. She has to do anything and everything that her brother does in addition to anything she comes up with on her own. Let's just say she's going to be a handful down the road...
Pirate Zeb with his pal the shark...and a silly mermaid looking on. (Those were Zeb's words, not mine. Just in case you were wondering)
