Today is a big day at our house. Zeb turned 4! We started the celebrating earlier this month with the Downs family birthday dinner. We had the dinner on the 4th so we could have little Luella included in the celebration (her birthday is in January, but we figured it was close enough!). We all gathered at Uncle Trevor and Aunt Melanie's house for delicious food - oatmeal pancakes, bacon, sausage, eggs, orange juice...the works! - and a big family party.
The three birthday kids ready to open gifts...
Zeb and Daddy with the spoils! All of those toys have already been put to good use!
This is the only picture of the candle-blowing activity that I have that doesn't have 5 other heads in the shot. I guess that's what happens when you get everyone together and stand behind them. Haha!
It was such a great family dinner party!
Since we had a few weeks until the actual birthday, we filled our time with fun and games - which will have to wait for another post since this one is dedicated to our fabulous four-year old!
We woke up early this morning to find a special surprise waiting for us downstairs!
Yep...we got Valentines!
Bryan gave me these lovely flowers along with chocolates and a small teddy bear. Spoiled! He had the flowers arrive a few days early so they could bloom and I could enjoy them longer.
Everyone got a little spoiled this year from the combined efforts of me and Gma Sagers. Let it be known that Gma is the one who sent all the candy (and the cute decorations)...just wanted to put that out there!
Then the real surprise...
Zeb's first words when he saw everything waiting for him, "A balloon! I love it!!" I'm not joking. He was so thrilled to see the big balloons (the punching kind with the rubber band attached) that I think he missed everything else. Bryan had to point out that there were other things there too...
Again, "A bike! I LOVE IT!!!" He rode off before even giving the other gifts a second glance. We'll have to remember that for next time!
Gpa and Gma Sagers gave him some finger paints! Fun and messy times are definitely in our future.
Abigail gave Zeb his very own bowling set! He loves to bowl and was so happy...he even offered to share so we could play together!
He also got the movie Cars 2, a magnetic fishing game, a barnyard puzzle, and cards from Aunt Michelle (awesome Cars card with a poster for him to color!), Uncle Phil and Aunt Mandy (super cool fish card all the way from Taiwan!), and gGpa and gGma Porter (stories about one of our relatives who is 99!). Have I mentioned that he's getting spoiled?
The plan was to have special pancakes for breakfast (made into all kinds of shapes) but then he saw the cupcakes. Cupcakes weren't even supposed to be on the menu for this birthday...Zeb picked popsicles as his treat...but Gma Sagers sent some decorations that required cupcakes. Thanks Gma! Anyway, we went with the cupcakes and had a yummy breakfast. Maybe we'll have pancakes for lunch. **Zeb asks for pancakes nearly every time I ask him what he wants to eat!**
**The picture on the package of decorations shows the cupcake reaching all the way to the top of the balloons...who knows...maybe my cupcake pan is just the wrong size? Haha! They are still very fun and as you can see, Zeb loves it!**
Daddy had to go to work...so after he left, we rounded out the morning by going for a short bike ride.
We went to the tennis courts in our complex and had a blast!
Zeb was all over the place...
...and Abby is starting to get the hang of riding a trike. Not really, but she'll get there soon. Once we can get her to sit down she'll be good. Then I'll just have to figure out how to keep up with them!
We made it home (we got home at 8:20...really?!) in time to get a quick drink before Zeb got a special phone call...from Jake and the Neverland Pirates (one of his favorite shows on Disney Junior). Jake called to wish him a happy birthday and personally invite Zeb to join his pirate crew. How cool! Happy Birthday to our big boy!! We sure love having him as part of our family and love all the adventures that he takes us on!
Oh...and Happy Valentine's Day to everyone else! What a fun holiday...celebrating how much love we have for everyone. We love you and are thankful for your love!
