March Came in Like a Lion...

March was a very busy month for us. Thinking back on it, it doesn't seem like it was too bad. Then we look at the pictures and remember how much we actually did (in addition to our everyday life). It kind of makes you think, "Wow! How did we every survive?!" A few of our favorites to keep the memories alive and well...

Mom! Take my picture!
Just because she's so adorable...I have a hard time saying no.

March 2 was dress up like your favorite Dr. Seuss character day at school.
Our very own Grinch and Cindy-Lou Who! Dress-up days are so fun!

Later that same week, we had a bit of excitement after school. We had some friends come over to play...
...and the troll monster came out! Abigail loves to wear costumes of any kind, and usually combines at least 2 (sometimes up to 4!) to create her own fun.

March 12 was a super packed day! We started out with our ward Easter celebration at a park. There were egg hunts for the kids (they separated into 3 different age groups so all the kids could have fun - brilliant!), lunch and treats to enjoy, fun games, toys, and visiting with friends. Fantastic way to start the day!
Maggie was so excited to do the egg hunt that she picked some up right when we got to the park. We had to stop her and put eggs back at least 3 times before it was time for the hunt to begin.

Abby was a little social butterfly (what's new?!) and almost missed out on the hunt. But, we found her in time and she filled her hat.

Zeb was in the final group - the "big kids". How do we have a kid old enough for that? Wasn't he just born last week?

Abby enjoyed getting her face painted by some talented youth/leaders in our ward. What a fun way to share talents!

After our ward party, we walked across the street to our community Spring Celebration (have to be politically correct for this one - hehe). They had bounce houses, decorating your own cupcakes, popcorn, music, an Easter bunny for photo shoots (we passed on that one) and more fun.
The cupcakes were a hit...at least the decorating part. I don't think any of the kids finished eating theirs.

I guess the fun was too distracting...

We had to leave the community event early to get ready for a very special event that evening. Zebediah was baptized!! We are so proud of him and his decision to be baptized. When asked his favorite scripture (by the primary presidency in his getting-ready-question-session) he said, "Helaman 2:19" then opened up his scriptures to show them. Too bad there isn't a verse 19 in chapter 2. Haha! He did get the correct chapter (he told them he liked reading about the Gadianton Robbers and how the soldiers defeated them in battle). He's such a sweet-hearted and loving young man.
Gpa and Gma Downs are currently serving a mission in Mexico, so we got to FaceTime with them before the baptism.
We are so thankful for their example of serving a mission, even when it means not being there for some events. It just reinforces to us that they put Christ first as we've been taught. Thanks for showing by deed Gpa and Gma!

Never one to stand still, the pictures all turned out like this. Good thing it isn't the picture that counts for this!

Zeb was surrounded by friends and family for his special day. We definitely felt the love (even when Bryan had his sock AND BELT - the real kicker - stolen by his brothers). We all gather back at the house following the baptism for a meal of sliders and skittles. I had such a cute set-up...which is completely not normal for me, just not one of my talents...and forgot to take a picture. Oh well. Good food, good friends/family, good playtime, good visiting...lots of goodness going around!

While on a walk in our neighborhood, Maggie found a special tree.
It was all decorated and ready for Easter with eggs. How fun! Maggie loved walking past the "egg tree" and was so excited to tell her big sibling about it when they got home from school.

Lizzie just keeps getting bigger and bigger.
This picture shows why we don't need pets. Any food that gets spilled on the floor (or intentionally dumped...depending on your perspective) is like a magnet to this one. Heaven forbid I actually get to clean it up before she races over! Besides, food tastes better from the floor than from the fork. Right? Isn't that why it's on the floor in the first place?

Zeb continues to delight us with his wisdom in his schoolwork. I look forward to the treasures that come home on a very regular basis.
Write a new ending to the story Cinderella: "Cinderella would invite her stepsisters and stepmother to get married and lived happily ever after. The end. P.S. Do never be evil in your life." Pure gold!

Zebediah was presented with an award for the second trimester!
He is meeting all of his academic goals! His reading comprehension had drastically improved (he never struggled with being able to read the words, but he didn't always focus and remember what he read) from below grade level to above grade level. Pretty amazing for only a trimester!

We wore her out! We had to take a picture because it is so rare that Maggie is still.
Her eyes opened just in time for the picture, but she was soon sleeping while we were trying to feed her dinner. If only I could remember what we did that day to make her so tired, bed time would be so much easier! We love our little ball of energy.

School Open House night! So fun to go and see all of the kids projects and artwork up in their classrooms. Both Zeb and Abby had fun showing us their classroom and work space.
Zeb's teacher had a small scavenger hunt for the kids to do while showing the parents around. He had painted a still life, made a measurement rainbow, written his own version of the Three Little Pigs (his was Three Little Wolves) and more.

This is his self-portait using measurements for various body parts.

Abigail loves being creative and really thrives in her class.
She drew her version of the Cat in the Hat for Dr. Seuss week.

She made a diorama for Spring (hers is center in the photo) and painted butterfly wings. She has been loving TK (transitional kinder) and all of the fun projects they get to do.
