Spring Break 2016

We started off our Spring Break by taking in the March Field Air Museum. It was so neat to see all the planes, helicopters, missiles, and everything else they have! The kids loved the interactive area where they could climb, twist, turn, and so forth.

 Look at all those buttons!

They got to sit in a seat with a parachute attached.

There is a closet with uniform pieces for the kids to try on. The hats and helmets were a huge hit!

Zeb loved climbing in the cockpits to be the pilot. There might be a career change in his future. His latest is a scientist/inventor.

 Old time pilots!

 So much fun!

They only sat in the jeep for a few minutes before someone came out and told us it actually drives. Enter panic mode for the mommas! The kids scrambled out and we started walking around the outside portion of the museum...all the big planes!

The kids were going at a speed that didn't allow for any sign reading, but they all asked to go back again to learn more about the planes.

 Fun time with fun friends!

The next day of Spring Break was Bryan's birthday!! Yay for birthdays and celebrations!
Bryan was a good sport to enjoy the gifts the kids picked out for him.

Yummy tres leches for dessert!

Day at the beach was a perfect way to celebrate Bryan's birthday.
It was a gorgeous day and filled with smiles.

Some of the cousins met up with us. Bryan enjoyed some surfing time with his brother, some boogie boarding with some of the kids, and I played in the sand with the littles. Great day! We love our daddy and feel blessed every day that he's ours. He works so hard to provide for our family and take care of us. He is a wonderful example to us in many ways. He always shows his love for us. He's definitely our favorite!

Easter Sunday was so fabulous! We love special days that help us focus on our Savior and bring us closer together as a family. We had several discussions with the kids about why we celebrate Easter and what it means for us. It was very encouraging that our discussions held at the end of the week had more participation from the kids and they knew the answers to our questions.
Since we have church later in the day, we did our celebrating in the morning. We learned that the kids are more interested in finding eggs than in picking up candy that is just strewn on the floor. We had to literally point to the candy and tell them to pick it up. Good to know for next year!

We tried getting pictures of our Easter outfits...

...and we gave up after a while. Still, these capture our family perfectly.

Handsome daddy driving us to church.

After church, we went to Temecula to have a family dinner and egg hunt with the cousins.

Monday brought out some of our silliness.
Silly/funny face contests are a very regular occurrence in our home. Especially when the camera comes out.

Elizabeth is turning into quite the trouble maker. I wish we could say we didn't know where she got it from, but she has some very good(?) examples.

And of course, the obligatory messy face picture. We really do clean our children.

Tuesday, we went to Knott's Berry Farm with cousins. The kids were very well behaved and had so much fun.
Zeb was a good sport and took his sisters on rides.

Lizzie got to join us on some rides (she had to sit by herself - and on one of the rides they made me put socks on her before they'd let us on) and loved life.

 Smiles all around!

Wednesday started off with a bang! We went to a bootcamp type workout class (it was a Young Women activity), then jumped in the pool to cool down and play. Then we went home for lunch and went back to the pool to meet up with Aunt Tiffy and kids to celebrate Calie's birthday. While we were waiting our turn to go on the paddle boats on our lake...Abby fell off of the playground. To use her words, "I jumped to reach the spinny thing (it's like monkey bars, but spins in a circle) and missed. My arm went straight on the ground, then it crinkled under me." Aunt Tiffy came to the rescue and took control of Zeb and Maggie while Abby, Lizzie and I headed off to the urgent care.
An exam, a trip to the imaging center around the block (luckily it was a sunny day and a good walk), and back to the urgent care left us knowing that she had a sprained wrist and broken elbow. The break was very small and not displaced, but because it was her elbow and near the growth plates we had to wait and go to an orthopedic surgeon to have it casted.

Again with the silly faces...doing his best to cheer up his little girl. It worked. She smiled and even laughed a little.

A wrapped wrist and arm in a sling and this girl was set for the week. The earliest we could get her in to see the orthopedic was the next Monday. Do you have any idea how hard it is to have a 5-year old active girl keep her arm immobilized?! The answer is very hard. Very hard indeed.

But Abby did great and was a champ the entire time!

We finished off Spring Break by going to a strawberry farm and picked our own berries! How fun!
We love getting together with cousins and friends for fun activities.

The kids had a contest to see who could find the biggest strawberry. I can't remember who won, but they all tried their best.

Aunt Melanie helped Maggie and Abby find some good berries while I stayed with miss Liz.

She loves watching the kids, but can hardly wait to join in the fun herself.

Maggie wanted a photo shoot once we were back at Aunt Tiffy's house. She was very particular about how we took her picture. She would lay in the exact same position and have me take the picture.
Then she would come look and say, "Okay. Let's try again." Every. Single. Time. This went on for a good 10 minutes before she was ready for another game. Silly goose!

 Chocolate dipped strawberries!
Another perk of picking so many berries!

And finally...the cast!
Abigail decided to get a white cast so everyone could use rainbow colors to write on it. (Thanks for the idea Aunt Tiffany!)

She also insisted that we let anyone and everyone who couldn't come visit us know that if they told us what color to use, we could write their names for them
 Look at all those colors!

Wait Mom...don't forget this side! She had a lot of fun taking her markers around and letting people sign her cast.

Something random we learned from this experience, our school district won't allow kids to go back to school unless they have a note from the doctor spelling out their restrictions and the timeline. Since we didn't know about this policy, Abigail wasn't allowed back to school for a couple days while we tried to coordinate with the doctor's office and get the note faxed in.
Instead, she got to join the littles and I in our fun times. Once a month our clubhouse puts on a preschool craft. This month we made paper flowers. This was right up Abby's alley.

Maggie has more fun running around the room and eating the snacks than actually doing the craft.

Lizzie has fun trying to eat the stroller. Not really. I would never let my child lick the wheel of the stroller. Or I would at least stop her as soon as I saw what was happening. Any way you look at it, it's a fun way to get out the house, play with friends, and explore our creative side.
