We have been up to a whole lot of normal this month...at least when compared to the summer months! We didn't have any travel plans (which changed...story in a later post) and didn't have any big activities planned (which also changed...story included in this post). So we just settled in doing the same things we usually do.
Puzzles are HUGE at our house right now. Zeb is absolutely in love and sits down any chance he gets. In fact, we keep one out on the table so he can "break it" and redo it whenever he gets the urge. He is comfortable doing puzzles up to 150 pieces (after we do it a few times with him), but does best with those closer to 24 or 48. After he does a puzzle a few times he refuses to let anyone help him. What a smart little guy!
Pirates are still the normal. His current favorite is his new pirate bank. He gets to earn treasure (coins) for doing random acts of kindness or obedience. He is more than thrilled to earn pennies - and we're thrilled too! Win-Win.
Abigail is continuing to get into mischief. Being more mobile only presents more opportunities. Some of the places she gets stuck really amaze me...like under Zeb's tool table. What possible reason could she have for trying to crawl through the legs of the table?
Lucky for her, her big brother loves to help her out. He helps her solve problems while I take pictures...sometimes. In truth, Zeb is a great helper and loves his sister very much.
Funny faces...an every day occurrence. We just happened to already have the camera out for this one.
A while back (sometime at the beginning of this month) we had rain! It rained for the entire day...so during one of Abby's naps we went outside to play in the rain. We ran up and down the hill, jumped in puddles, ran away from and scared some pirates (totally and completely imaginary pirates), and had a great time. We got soaked pretty quickly but stayed out for a good while. After about 20 minutes I called the game and convinced Zeb to come inside so we wouldn't get sick. We got bundled up in sweats - actually shorts and sweatshirts - and had popcorn. Fun, fun, fun!
Our BIG ADVENTURE!
Last week we went to the local pumpkin patch with a group of friends. Since it was considered a field trip, the kids got to do almost everything there (some of the rides were too big for our age group) and even got a mini pumpkin. Zeb was so excited to go on the big slide...until he got to the top. That's him hiding in the upper left. He just stood there. Who knew he was a chicken? Not me! He finally climbed back down the stairs and moved on to the next activity.
The swings were a big hit. Surprised? Not me!
He loved being the strong-man. Loved it so much that he didn't want to give the other kids a turn. I told him 1 more hit...and he swung the mallet as fast as possible to get in as many hits as he could before I reached him. Funny kid. Abigail was content to stay in the stroller for most of the time at the pumpkin patch. The weather was extremely warm (somewhere around the 95 degrees mark!) and she was tired. We stopped for ice cream cones on our way home. Perfect outing.
