As we continued our preparations for Christmas time, we joined together with our friends to make gingerbread houses. It is a yearly tradition to gather as many kids as possible to create our masterpieces. A few of the moms make all the houses before the party, then everyone contributes some frosting and decorating candy. Every year we get new and improved designs and happy kids.
Zeb was too excited to play outside with all the boys to really sit down and decorate (thus his blank house in the corner of the picture). Abigail had a wonderful time and was very artistic.
Very blurry photo...but it shows her concentration (she had the same expression on her face the entire time she was working on her house). We were very thrilled to get both houses home in one piece...and then Mommy dropped Zeb's house while opening the door to our house. It was only slightly traumatic and he was quick to forgive. As a result of one house being dropped, the kids could no longer resist eating their masterpieces. We never did get pictures of the finished products, so we'll just have to look forward to next year!
Zeb and Abby spent lots of time together this season doing all sorts of activities. Coloring, writing letters to Santa, watching Christmas shows...and sometimes combining all three! So precious to see the love they have for each other (since, of course, they never fight?!) and the ever-increasing interest in interaction with each other.
The weekend before Christmas we joined up with the Downs crew and went to San Diego to see some lights. We started our viewing at the San Diego Temple and were amazed at the beautiful scenery. There really is nothing like walking around temple grounds while seeing the beauty of Christmas expressed. (Grainy phone photos, but it's better than nothing!)
Smiles all around while wandering the grounds!
While waiting for everyone to load back up into cars for our next stop, Bryan taught Zeb how to push a car. Great? Whatever the verdict - Zeb was thrilled to learn something new to show his strength. We went to a neighborhood in San Diego known as "Christmas Card Lane" and were very impressed (as always) with the awesome display put on for the pleasure of others. We finished off the night celebrating a soon-to-come birthday for a cousin with cake and ice cream. Wonderful weekend!
