Bryan was blessed to have half of a Saturday off from work this month (busy season at his job means working 6 days a week from the end of January through the end of tax season) so we decided to go to the beach! It was an overcast day, but we really didn't care. We made our way over to Newport Beach - one of our personal favorites since it is very kid-friendly (meaning you don't have to walk forever carrying all of your "necessities") and we see pods of dolphins nearly every time we go - and enjoyed our afternoon. **Zeb does have a memory of sand crabs getting in his shorts at this beach...so beware Uncle Gregg, he has plans to retaliate! He mentioned it more than once...so you know it's really on his mind!**
Zeb and Abby raced to the water's edge as soon as we set up camp and played until we had to leave.
We built sand castles, sand volcanoes, dug holes, buried toes, the list goes on and on.
Zeb and Bryan played in the freezing water for nearly an hour! They had fun jumping over waves, falling into waves, and running away from waves. (Abby and I used our smarts and stayed dry!) It was such a fun way to spend some time together as a family, even if we did get a little cold. I was also glad to get to go one last time before adding baby #3 to our crew (the drive home nearly did me in) since I don't imagine being brave enough to do the beach with 3 kids on my own for a while.
