Sometimes we think our kids don't learn anything and that we are just talking to ourselves. Sometimes our kids really amaze us. This was one of those times where Zeb really let his light shine!
He is such a sweet boy and makes us proud!
We took a trip to Knott's Berry Farm and Maggie talked me into going on a spinny ride. Bryan was with Zeb and Lizzie, while I had Maggie and Abby (Abby couldn't really go on many rides because she still had her cast on her arm). Abigail was a good sport and watched us go on the ride (she guarded the stroller right by the gate surrounding the ride).
Maggie had such a fun time spinning around and around...and I did my best to not get sick. The things we do for our kids!
We decided that we would try our hand at gardening. This is something we've been wanting to do for the past 10 or so years. No time like the present!
Abigail loved helping spread the mulch and gardening soil.
Zeb and Maggie preferred using their gardening tools to dig in our rocks. We are definitely fighting a losing battle with the rocks.
Elizabeth spent her time dancing to the music and playing with the volume on our speaker.
We're so excited to see what we are able to grow (if anything!) this year. We planted carrots, green beans, bell peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers, and beets. Fingers crossed that we don't have black thumbs!
April means perfect park weather! The little girls and I enjoyed meeting up with friends and playing at the park.
Margaret would beg and beg to take Elizabeth down the slides. I wasn't completely comfortable with that idea (for more than one reason) so I got to join in the fun.
Proof that we actually leave the house for things other than errands!
Towards the end of the month, we got to participate in a city-wide service project. We love being able to serve in our community - especially when we get to do it with friends. Bryan was a house manager (supervising the work being done at one of the homes in the community) so the kids and I helped where we could.
We started by making some flower pots to deliver to the participating homes. The kids got to choose which flowers to plant, dig the holes, and decorate with fun lawn ornaments.
Smiles all around!
After we finished putting together the flower pots, we went to help do some yard work. Zebediah and Abigail helped trim bushes, wash windows, and clean up the mess we made.
Maggie was mostly there for moral support and Liz napped most of the time.
Bryan had an adventure at the home he was managing. They went to move a shed in the backyard and found a surprise.
A mommy skunk and her babies! Eww! They had to pause that project while waiting for the skunks to move (animal control couldn't come out unless the homeowner made the call - instead of Habitat for Humanity making the call - and a few other roadblocks), but the skunks did end up moving and the work resumed.
Keeping fit! Zebediah has joined a local swim team! We are so excited for him to have an activity that he loves and is really starting to excel in.
He struggles a bit with the part about not being able to play during practice time (he loves to dive under the water and just play around), but is getting better every day about following the instructions of his coach and completing his workout. His favorite part so far is doing cannonballs from the diving blocks.
Excited to show off his new swim gear.
