Big Adventures

The day after school got out, Bryan and I took off for a week. My folks came down to spend some time with our kids while we had some adventures. Gpa Sagers drove us down to the border, we walked across a bridge, got on a plane (we flew out of Tijuana), and landed in paradise. We spent a very relaxing and adventurous (can you tell we had some adventures?!) vacation in Puerto Vallarta.

Half of our time was spent lounging at the various resort pools and beaches, getting massages and sunburns, doing the various activities at the pools (water aerobics, crafts, games) and more relaxing. The other half was spend doing excursions. The resort was like staying in a rain forest. It was so peaceful and beautiful. Wooden paths go throughout leading to the various hotels, pools, beaches, and other amenities.

We went snorkeling, paddle boarding and kayaking on our first trip.
We started out snorkeling and had some fun seeing the local marine life. On the way back to the boat (completely unknown to me since I had already taken my mask off) we swam through about a million jellyfish! I might be exaggerating on the number, but probably not by much. Bryan saw them as he was swimming and made the choice to not tell me what I was swimming through until after we were both back on the boat. Thanks? Either way you look at it, we survived - didn't even get stung! - and have a fun story to tell.

Look at that handsome man out there!

I stood up on the board about 50 times...and fell off about 50 times before finishing up on my knees. So much fun!

 We did it!

Zeb requested that we take pictures of our food, so Bryan complied.
Our favorite eatery at the resort was the creperie! We ate there almost every day (when we weren't just lounging at the pool eating nachos) and never tired of it. Yum! Food just tastes better when you don't have to make it.

Our second adventure was a cultural show and romantic candlelit dinner on a beach called "Rhythm of the Night". And Bryan's phone died on the boat ride out to the island. Oh well. Less distraction. The show was astounding. Very talented people telling some of the history of Mexico. It was really pretty seeing the beach lit with candles. Good memories.

We saved the best for last. Not really intentionally, but it just happened that way. We went zip-lining!

We rode mules up the mountain to the start of the zip line course. Fun!

Bryan was quick to volunteer to be the first one down the line. That made me second...and I wasn't quite ready yet. Thanks for pushing me along, Babe! I might struggle a bit with a fear of heights...but we make sacrifices for those that we love. And sometimes we even end up enjoying making those sacrifices!

Get dunked...why not?!
I had gone first down this rope, so Bryan knew what was coming.

Rappelling down a waterfall. Why not? Take a break and sit on the rock face...why not? Perfect photo op.
I only slipped once and have a new scrap/scar to remember this adventure by.

The weather was hot and humid and the water felt so good!

Bring on the water slides!

Zip line upside down. Seriously?!?! On the other hand, how often will you have an opportunity like this? On the other hand, how often do you want said opportunity? On the other hand, why not?
They called this one surfing. Hmmm...not quite what we were used to, but still super fun!

Water slide number 2 required elbow pads and a helmet. What were we thinking?!

 It was a fantastic adventure!

We got caught in a rainstorm on our way back from dinner on our last night at the resort.

Nothing like running in the rain!

While the parents were away, the kids got to play! Gpa and Gma had several adventures of their own with our kids.
Lizzie found a new way to drink her bottle. Who needs hands?!

The big kids got to color their very own shirts! What a great time.

Finger painting on the driveway. Amazing.

The also found pirates at Target, played at the pool, found fun parks in our community, had Gpa's special Fancy Nancy pancakes, did fashion shows from Mom and Dad's closet, had picnics, ring pop popsicles, and sleep-overs in the playroom.
