Missionaries!

I can't believe I forgot to blog about this!!! Way, way back in September, Gpa and Gma Downs came home from serving their 18-month mission for our church in Argentina! We all had it planned out to greet them at the airport, but due to some extra traffic and bad planning on our part, we just missed them. Ha! They came out to find most of the family gathered, but with a few of us missing. Oh well, we got there before the celebrating was finished so we were still happy. It was so exciting to get to give them hugs again!

Abigail was only 6 months old when they left...so she was thrilled. We had been fortunate and were able to Skype with them while they were at the end of the Earth (literally! They served in Patagonia - the southern most tip of the inhabited world) so she knew who they were and was comfortable giving them loves. Zeb was a little shy at first (he's been going through a strange phase...) but quickly warmed up. He would hardly leave Gpa's side when we all congregated at a nearby In-n-Out Burger.

I know these aren't my kids...but it's a great picture of Gpa and Gma (and the kids too!). We all had great big smiles for the night - and the next day too when they got to give their reports in church. We are very grateful to have such wonderful examples in our family of love and service. Missions are completely voluntary and paid for by the missionaries, so their willingness to set aside the things of the world to further the work of our Savior is a shining example to us and our children. They had so many wonderful experiences with the Argentinian people and have come home even stronger than when they left. It's late - but we sure are glad to have them home!
